“Ice” is my personal micro-project about the winter at Zemborzycki Reservoir near Lublin, Poland – large man-made lake build in 1974, used for wind surfing, fishing and other water sports during the summer. In winter it becomes deserted, with very few people visiting, exception being the ice anglers. Most of them is coming there every weekend for many years, they sit on their stools in the open on a frozen waters for hours. They usually know each other but rarely interact, they seem to enjoy this opportunity of isolation and loneliness. The act of fishing becomes less important than it seems, it’s just an excuse to be there. Their tiny silhouettes appear like frozen figures – waiting to dissolve in the great whiteness and stillness, until they become a part of the landscape. “Ice” was shortlisted for Kolga Festival photo competition in Tblisi, Georgia in June 2012 and was included in the Festival's main exhibition.
